CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT CYLE (by PEYTON & PEITON, (1998)
A curriculum development cycle is a systematic schedule or schedule to address curriculum design, delivery, and revision in all content areas.
In this way, Peyton and Peyton, (1998) present a design that contains Need Assessment, Design, Implementation and outcome, which is considered a dynamic system that helps to revitalize what the student has been taught.
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
The curriculum is a process of structuring a learning plan, which should be organized according to the needs of the students and their context. In the academic field, a structured scheme of the different contents and periods of each area of knowledge has to be organized within an educational stage. Thus, a study plan is a global strategy that serves as a normative guide for its application by education professionals. And, what is it's purpose? well, we can say that students achieve a series of competencies in different areas.
STAGES OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
Here are some steps you must follow in order to apply the development of the study plan from the beginning to the end, considering all the very important stages. Below we present the stages that must be followed to fulfill the Curriculum Development.
Determine educational or profesional context:
This will help to have a preview of the type of students and teachers that will make up the educational process.
Define needs:
The curriculum is developed with all educational factors, but they are the main thing, then you must know their needs.
Determine aims and expected outcomes
Determine what is expected to be accomplished with students at the end of the academic term.
Identify ideas and constraints
Analyze what you want to do and in what way, without having any kind of problem when applying them.
Agree on the structure and framework of the programme
Agree on the model that will be used throughout the academic year.
Allocate detailed development of each topic
Add the characteristics and definitions that will be discussed on the topics that will be seen.
Course teams to develop coherent programmes
The assignment of the different technological or electronic means to fulfill the planned objective.
Implement and refine program
Apply the program and comply with what was expected.
Develop evaluation strategy
Create a plan to know if what was expected has been fulfilled (meet the previously established objectives).
Review and revise the course in line with feedback
Repeat a class or topic again depending on the results of the evaluation.
COMMON APPROACHES TO CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
Commonly used approaches consist of analysis, design, selection, and formation.Analysis: needs analysis, task analysis.
Design: target design.
Selection: choosing appropriate learning / teaching methods and appropriate assessment methods.
Formation: formation of the curriculum implementation committee / curriculum evaluation committee.
